Carpet Stain Being DabbedBelow are some DIY (do it yourself) cleaning tips which will help you either remove stains & spills completely or at the very least lessen their effects on your carpets and other surfaces.

Liqueur:

Dab with methylated spirits.

Beer:

Dab with methylated spirits.

Wine:

Dab with a mixture of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water and then shampoo.

Coffee and Tea:

Shampoo. If the stain persists, dab with methylated spirits.

Chocolate, Sweets, Jam, Syrup and Fruit Juices:

Dab with warm water.

Gravy and Sauces:

Dab with white spirit and then shampoo. If the stain persists, dab with diluted ammoniac (1 part ammonia to 10 parts water).

Mud:

Allow to dry and then go over with a vacuum cleaner shampoo when the large portions of dry mud have been removed.

Blood:

Dab with methylated spirits.

Butter and Oil:

Dab with white spirit and then shampoo. If the stain persists, dab with diluted ammoniac (1 part ammonia to 10 parts water).

Candle Wax:

Put brown paper on the stain and iron with a warm iron.

Vomit and Urine:

Dab with a mixture of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water, or with methylated spirits and shampoo.

Cosmetics, Medicines, Glue, Stain and Varnish:

Apply white spirits and shampoo.
